Business Advisory Board

The Business Advisory Board advises ExecutiveAction on internal business matters and, on occasion, advises clients. Members of the Board are listed below:

Elliot Kaplan - Chairman

Elliot Kaplan, founding shareholder of Daniels & Kaplan, P.C. and a longtime and visible advocate of civil justice reform, is Chairman of the Business Advisory Board.

Kaplan is highly respected for his ability to defend his international clientele against abusive lawsuits. He has lectured at Oxford University in his practice area, crisis management, and strategies for nontraditional solutions to difficult legal problems.

Since 2005, Kaplan has been Chairman of the Compensation Committee and a member of the Audit Committee. During the years 1985 through 1993, Kaplan practiced with the law firms of Berman, DeLeve, Kuchan and Chapman (1991-1993); DeWitt, Zeldin and Bigus (1990-1991); and Husch, Eppenberger, Donahue, Cornfeld and Jenkins (1985-1990).

From 1983-1985, Kaplan served as Vice President, Assistant General Counsel, and Assistant Secretary of Air One, Inc. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of NASDAQ-listed Infinity Energy Resources, Inc.

Kaplan received a BA degree from Antioch University in 1978 and a JD and MBA from Whittier College in 1982. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Missouri Bar, and the District of Columbia Bar.

Amr Badr

Amr Badr, Regional Managing Director of Abercrombie & Kent for Egypt and the Middle East, has a wide range of expertise in international relations, including lobbying, public relations, strategic marketing, fundraising, and public diplomacy. Among the boards of which he is a member are People to People International, Overland Transportation, SANO Company for Food and Catering, and Al Zawad Information Technology Company.

Badr serves on the Economic Committee of the National Democratic Party of Egypt (NDP) and is a member of The Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs, The World Affairs Councils of America, and The Royal Institute of International Affairs in London.

Paul Berry

Paul Berry, one of Washington’s most respected journalists, is the host of a daily radio talk show on WTNT. He also heads a media consulting business. Berry previously was senior anchor for WJLA’s 5, 6, and 11 pm newscasts in the nation’s capital. A native of Detroit, he began his media career as a television reporter and then anchor at WXYZ, an ABC television outlet.

Berry is a recipient of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Ted Yates award, and the Humanitarian Award of the National Martin Luther King Jr. Student Leadership Conference. The Washingtonian Magazine named Berry “Washingtonian of the Year” in 1991, and twice, Mayors of the city have declared “Paul Berry Day in the District” to honor his community service support.

Elliot Cole

Elliot Cole, a senior partner at Patton Boggs, has more than 40 years of corporate legal experience. He assists early-stage companies and startups with a broad-range of financing strategies. Cole has helped many clients bring companies to maturity, often tapping into his broad base of contacts with financiers and investors to provide capital and management assistance.

Cole serves on numerous boards and has been a trustee of Boston University, his alma mater, for more than 20 years.

Tom Kellerman

Tom Kellerman is Vice President of Security Awareness at Core Security Technologies, which provides breakthrough software and services to address information security needs of corporations and government clients. He is a Commissioner and Chair of the Threats Working Group on The Commission on Cyber Security for the 44th Presidency.

Kellerman is a member of the IP Governance Task Force, the National Consumer League’s Anti-Phishing Working Group, and the Cyber-crime working group for the American Bar Association. He previously was Senior Data Risk Management Specialist at the World Bank Treasury Security Team. He co-authored “E-safety and Soundness: Securing Finance in a New Age.”

Christopher Michael

Chris Michael is President and CEO of Affinity Labs, a company that is building a global network of world-class, online communities. Michael previously created Military.com, the nation’s largest military membership organization. He was a strategy consultant for airline, entertainment, and financial services. Michael is the author of The Military Strategy and serves as an elected Director of the U.S. Naval Institute, a Governor on the USO World Board, and member of the General Council of the Naval Order of the U.S.
