R. James Woolsey - Chairman
R. James Woolsey, former Director of Central Intelligence, is Vice President and officer of Booz Allen Hamilton. Woolsey was a partner at the law firm of Shea & Gardner in Washington, D.C., where he practiced for 22 years in the fields of civil litigation and alternative dispute resolution.
He served as Ambassador to the Negotiation on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (1989-1991), Under Secretary of the Navy (1977-1979), and General Counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services (1970-1973).
Woolsey is Co-Chairman, with former Secretary of State George Shultz, of the Committee on the Present Danger. He is Chairman of the Advisory Boards of the Clean Fuels Foundation and the New Uses Council, and a Trustee of the Center for Strategic & International Studies and the Center for Strategic & Budgetary Assessments.
He has served on numerous boards and commissions, including The National Commission on Terrorism, The Commission to Assess the Ballistic Missile Threat to the U.S., The President's Blue Ribbon Commission on Defense Managament (Packard Commission), and The President's Commission on Strategic Forces (Scowcroft Commission).
Woolsey received a B.A. degree from Stanford University (With Great Distinction, Phi Beta Kappa), an M.A. from Oxford University (Rhodes Scholar), and an LL.B from Yale Law School (Managing Editor of the Yale Law Journal).
Judge William Sessions – Vice Chairman
Judge William Sessions, previously Director of the FBI, is a partner at Holland & Knight LLP. Judge Sessions has had a successful career in both law and public service. He was an attorney at a law firm in Texas from 1958 until appointed in 1969 as Chief of the Government Operations Section, Criminal Division of the Department of Justice. In 1971, Judge Sessions was named U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Texas. He was appointed U.S. District Judge for this jurisdiction in 1974 and then Chief Judge in 1980.
President Ronald Reagan nominated Judge Sessions as Director of the FBI and he was sworn in November 2, 1987. Judge Sessions served as Director until July 1993.
Judge Sessions earned a B.A. in political science and economics from Baylor University in 1956 and a J.D. from the University’s School of Law in 1958. He has received numerous awards and honors, including “Lawyer of the Year” from Baylor’s Law School, the Golden Plate Award from the American Academy of Achievement, and Ellis Island Congressional Medal of Honor in 1992. Judge Sessions served in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot from 1952-1955.
Maria Cattaui served as Secretary General of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) from 1996 to 2005, and was the Managing Director and Member of the Executive Board of the World Economic Forum (Davos) from 1977 to 1996.
Ms. Cattaui is currently Vice Chairman of the International Crisis Group and serves on numerous boards, including the EastWest Institute (New York), National Bureau of Asian Research (NBR), and Petroplus Holdings AG.
Ms. Cattaui began her career as a writer and editor of books, speeches, and articles. She wrote and edited articles for Encyclopedia Britannica and Time-Life Books. Ms. Cattaui is an honors graduate of Harvard University and has an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from York University, Toronto.
Sir Richard Needham
Sir Richard Needham was appointed UK’s Minister of Trade in 1992, after serving as a Member of Parliament and Minister of Northern Ireland. He currently is Chairman of Avon Rubber Plc, as well as a director of several small private companies.
Mr. Needham previously was Director of GEC plc and Chairman of GPT Ltd. He was named Vice Chairman of NEC Europe Ltd. in 1997 and was Deputy Chairman of Dyson Ltd. from 1999-2004.
Mr. Needham also was Chairman of The London Heart Hospital and Chairman of Biocompatibles Plc. He is a founding member of the Anglo-Japanese 21st Century Group, and was appointed the Order of The Rising Sun and Silver Star by the Japanese Government. Mr. Needham has authored two books, “Honourable Member” and “Battling for Peace.”
Celia Sandys, granddaughter of Winston Churchill, is an author, journalist, television personality, and speaker. She has published five books related to Churchill and is Chairman of Churchill Leadership Inc., an organization she founded that offers leadership training to private and public sector executives.
Ms. Sandys has delivered speeches to audiences around the world and is a frequent guest on television talk shows, including those hosted by Chris Matthews and Charlie Rose.
Rear Admiral James Stark (ret.)
Rear Admiral James Stark (ret.), currently with The Spectrum Group, commanded the NATO Standing Naval Force Atlantic and served as Commander of the Pacific Fleet Training Command.
He was a member of the Navy Staff and National Security Council. Mr. Stark completed his 33-year career in the Navy as President of the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.
Mr. Stark earned a BS (with distinction) from the U.S. Naval Academy. He attended the University of Vienna as a Fullbright Scholar and holds two Masters Degrees and a Ph.D. from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University.
