R. James Woolsey

R. James Woolsey, Chairman of ExecutiveActions' Advisory Board, was previously Director of Central Intelligence and currently is Vice President and officer of Booz Allen Hamilton.

Woolsey was a partner at the law firm of Shea & Gardner in Washington, D.C., where he practiced for 22 years in the fields of civil litigation and alternative dispute resolution.

He served as Ambassador to the Negotiation on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (1989-1991), Under Secretary of the Navy (1977-1979), and General Counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services (1970-1973).

Woolsey is Co-Chairman, with former Secretary of State George Shultz, of the Committee on the Present Danger. He is Chairman of the Advisory Boards of the Clean Fuels Foundation and the New Uses Council, and a Trustee of the Center for Strategic & International Studies and the Center for Strategic & Budgetary Assessments.

He has served on numerous boards and commissions, including The National Commission on Terrorism, The Commission to Assess the Ballistic Missile Threat to the U.S., The President's Blue Ribbon Commission on Defense Managament (Packard Commission), and The President's Commission on Strategic Forces (Scowcroft Commission).

Woolsey received a B.A. degree from Stanford University (With Great Distinction, Phi Beta Kappa), an M.A. from Oxford University (Rhodes Scholar), and an LL.B from Yale Law School (Managing Editor of the Yale Law Journal).
